The future of mobility in Dubai is on track and it’s smart, fast and sustainable.
Hold on…have you heard about Dubai’s biggest metro expansion yet? If not- you’re about to!
What is the Blue Line?
The Blue Line will stretch 30 km and include 14 stations. It connects 9 important areas of Dubai where over 1 million people are expected to live by 2040. This line will make commuting faster and more convenient – especially for those living in areas like Dubai Creek Harbour, Mirdif, Al Warqa and Dubai Silicon Oasis.
Did you know this line is breaking records?
For the first time ever, Dubai Metro will cross the Dubai Creek using a 1.3 km bridge. It’ll also feature the tallest metro station in the world – Emaar Properties Station standing 74 meters high.
It will also provide a direct metro connection to Dubai International Airport making travel easier for both residents and tourists. The Blue Line will link with the Red Line at Centrepoint Station and the Green Line at Creek Station creating smoother travel across the entire metro network.
So… how does it all work?
It runs on two main routes
Route 1 starts from Creek Station and goes through Dubai Festival City, Ras Al Khor, International City and ends at Academic City. This route is 21 km long and has 10 stations.
Route 2 starts from Centrepoint Station in Al Rashidiya, passes through Mirdif and Al Warqa and connects with International City. It is 9 km long and has 4 stations.
A new metro depot will also be built in Al Ruwayyah 3 to support operations. By 2040, the Blue Line is expected to generate AED 56.5 billion in total benefits. For every AED 1 spent, the return will be AED 2.60.
The line will help –
- To Reduce traffic congestion by 20%
- Cut fuel usage and carbon emissions
- Reduce accidents and travel time
- Boost property values by up to 25% near metro stations
That means better travel, higher property returns and a cleaner environment.
Who Will Use It?
Dubai Metro has already carried over 2.5 billion passengers since it launched in 2009. In 2024 alone, 900,000 people used it every day.By 2040, the Blue Line is expected to carry 320,000 passengers daily – with the full network having capacity for 850,000 daily riders.
If you live in areas like Silicon Oasis, Academic City, or International City – this metro line is built for you. It will save time, cut down costs and increase the value of properties near stations.
